East Coast TFC (testing)

Post by boat » Tue Jul 11, 2006 1:53 pm

welp, the planets have finally lined up and we are in the process of getting a EC1 server back up and running. we're still in the testing phase(s) so bear with us. some dns names have been setup to try and make things easier, so you should be able to connect/add the server with the following...

tfc.nmeclan.net
server.nmeclan.net
tfcserver.nmeclan.net

as it stands now, the server will be running on a schedule, from 6pm to 6am weekdays and all the time on weekends (6pm friday to 6am monday). it should also be found as "East Coast TFC..." in the server list as well, if you prefer that way.

anyhoo, that is what it is so far...so get on there, test her out, frag some firends/foes, have a good time. (again, still in testing phase right now, so dont be surprised if you encounter and restarts or downtime or anything...just keep an eye out if something goes amiss and rejoin when feasable) ;)

:ohyeah: :tfsol:

for me, it depends. it's raining today so not much work i can get done outside. that means i'll probably be on early, 6:00ish. if i'm busy, then i usually try around 9:00pm or later.

How has the EC TFC server been set up in the past? Can it be put on a host? And how does Steam play into it now?

What do you mean, put on a host? Any machine running a TFC server is host. You just need decent bandwidth, particularly upstream bandwidth. I don't think steam effects it any. We were on steam when we had the admin mods installed and it didn't seem to effect it. Grumm was running the Thornville Armory for a while with no ill effects.

Oh, hum....

Well that makes sense.

Was it that way back when we were all playing together?

Oh, so we pick someones machine that is to be on all the time and we publish its ip address for everyone?

Yep, the thornville armory was the last I played with any of you. perhaps a few games on some public servers since.

I don't know if we can run it from home. It depends on if your ISP allows connections across those ports. We got away with EC1 because we ran it from work (an ISP). I think Grumm ran the TA from work to, but could be wrong. Most business class internet accounts have unrestricted port access. Residential accounts are usually locked down to an extent. I guess the only way to find out is to try it.

Yea, and to think back then I was playing thru AT&T dial up. :o

Now I have Charter cable and no where to play.

I doubt Charter would let me setup a online game system. But I was thinking that you could load TFC on a host and everyone goto it. But it dont work that way.

Unfortunately not. EC1 has been down for quite some time. I'm surprised someone actually posted on here.
