Drinking Alcohol May Extend Your Life

Post by boat » Wed Dec 20, 2006 8:14 pm

courtesy slashdot...:

"MSNBC has an interesting article on an Italian study on alcoholism. While the obvious notion of overconsumption of alcohol being detrimental to one's health is supported, apparently drinking it in moderation can actually extend your lifespan. A study on over 1 million drinkers and 94,000 deaths yielded the results: "According to the data, drinking a moderate amount of alcohol — up to four drinks per day in men and two drinks per day in women — reduces the risk of death from any cause by roughly 18 percent, the team reports in the Archives of Internal Medicine. However, "things radically change" when consumption goes beyond these levels, study leader Dr. Augusto Di Castelnuovo, from Catholic University of Campobasso, said in a statement. Men who have more than four drinks per day and women who have more than two drinks per day not only lose the protection that alcohol affords, but they increase their risk of death, the data indicates.""

the bone lies! 2 gamestops and 1 eb later...still nada. all 'claimed' to have gotten a couple in earlier, but are gone (one store the guy made eye conctact like once, if that, the whole time talking to me...while fiddling with some receipts or stickers or something...sup customer service? doubt ill be going back to that one any time soon... ). when asked when they might get some more in? 'i dunno...they come randomly and only a couple at a time...'

i should also file a complaint for false advertising, as each of the stores had about 2-3 wii boxes with a price on them out on the shelves...to me that would imply they had some, but of course they didnt... :x

:drinking: 0X :fist:

t don't lie ya idjit. i never stated they've got mass supplies of'em, only that they had them when i was there. f*ck, porkchop was beggin me for a ps3 and i was pushin him, "wouldn't you rather have that nice inexpensive wii instead", ... but he didn't want a wii.

i don't think the demand for consoles is that big around here. i never saw huge arse lines waiting at stores for them the day they were released and the local news didn't even hype on them when they were released, ps3 or wii.

Post by boat » Fri Jan 12, 2007 3:06 pm

yay! finally gots me a wii :ohyeah: :P

10:30ish am, started calling around...walmart: no...target: no...bestbuy: no...toyrus: yes, we got 12 in today and 3 have been sold already, "do yall hold any?" "no sir" "doh!"...leave at 11:15ish, arrive at toysrus just before 12noon, see a display by the front door with a buncha wii's and ps3's, i grab one...empty...contemplate on what to do next...a clerk walks by and says that the boxes are empty, just for display but should have some back in electronics...i head for electronics...a few people back there...get in line...one guy checks out...the couple in front has a wii on the counter and a buncha controllers in their cart...they take forever because they signup for toysrus card for 10% off...they finally finish up, im next..."do you have any wii's left?" "we have a few left, that what you want" "hell ya, hook it up" "would you like any extra games or controllers before you check out" "i believe so, i just wanted to make sure i had a wii first...can i go check out some more stuff?" "go right ahead"...grab me 2 games and an extra controller+nunchuck...the guy behind did the same, got a wii and extra games/controller...we're standing in line to check out, she says she has to open the other box for us...all said and done, they have one left in the store by the time i checked out...phwew...

so yeah, i finally gots me a wii...yipii! :P ;)
