wally would probably be the program to use...i think itd be as easy as opening a graphics file in wally, then jsut doing something like "convert to wad". ill try to play with it some when i get a chance after work. :ohyeah:

Yeah wally is probably the most common way to do this.. There are options in wally to add as many graphics files as you want to a .wad file.. I use some Half Life SDK thingy when I do my cust. wads .. It does allow for more than one graphics file to be added but its a bit more diff. than with what i understand wally does.. I just started my hand with wally for just that reason ;)

Edit** You will also need some kinda graphics program to alter the graphic file attributes.. I use PhotShop 7 but I think there aer others that will work.. I dont think MS Paint will do the trick :-?

i think ur mistaken rork, he's looking to create a custom wad file for mapping, not a spray (like openfire has openfire.wad, tiger has tiger.wad, etc)...so can use custom textures w/in a map ;) :)

Oh you do do you :) :D :o :-? :x  :zap: i think not.. ;) a wad is a wad is a wad is a wad.. ;) as long as you tell hammer to use the wad you have created, either with wally and or the Valve texture SDK, then Hammer will use it..

*edit* but i do think wally makes the process as a whole much easier. it may even do the attribute changes to the graphics file or files on it own..

dont mind me just puttin this here in case anyone wants it..

**Edit**
Please note in the intructions you will find this paragraph on the second page of the first file..

Make a folder called 'MyDecal' (without quotation marks of course) in the Texture SDK folder and go to this newly created folder. Now copy your own made {LOGO.BMP to this MyDecal folder. Go back to the Texture SDK folder, and open the file MAKEWAD.BAT with a text editor, like Notepad. If it's right, then this should be in it:

makels samples samplewad samples.ls
qlumpy samples.ls
Change that into this:
makels mydecal pldecal pldecal.ls
qlumpy pldecal.ls

This was writen based on WON.. you will want to change that last instruction to read:
makels mydecal tempdecal tempdecal.ls
qlumpy tempdecal.ls

I use it the old way "pldecal.ls" then once I have made the pldecal.wad file I just change the name to tempdecal.wad.. I guess it is up to you on how you want to do it.. :stone:
