This game ( Stalker, Shadow of Chernobyl) looks like it has potential. The scenery sorta reminds me of HL2.

I can't seem to be able to find a release date for it. I think the challenging part will be there are no crosshairs. I hope they've got iron sights, can't tell from any of the pics. Looks like you can buy a scope or at least buy/find a weapon that comes with a scope.

going thru some of the site, i thihnk it was planned for oct/nov 04, but has been pushed back to Q1 05

from what i was understanding, the hand/melee type shooting/weapons dont have crosshairs, but once u get different weapons, like rifles and such, then those have iron sites, scopes, etc.

:)

I saw Q1 '05 as release too as they want to fine tune it and give it some distance from D3 and HL2 releases.

I like the sound of the health system in that to heal you have to rest and eat. Also the fact that a headshot will take you down and other wounds start affecting your coordination if you let it keep bleeding. The AI sounds cool too along with weather. Wind will carry your scent and creatures will stalk you b/c of it. All in all it sounds pretty dang cool.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. delayed until May 2005 - 29/10/2004
GSC Game World would like to officially announce that the release of their highly anticipated first-person/survival game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:Shadow of Chernobyl, will be delayed to allow more time to polish the code.

the Iron sights remind me like Hostile Intent (half-life MOD)
so i guess it would be kinda easy for me, since i [played that MOD alot.

Cool, i have that mod too! The reasons i downloaded Hostile intent, is BECAUSE of the iron/open sights, and the realism. I don't play it as much anymore, maybe we should team up one day,

I already know about it. I did a presentation on it when I was in college. Terrible disaster. I think there's interesting site somewhere on the Internet. A lady on motorcycle took pictures of Chernobyl recently. It's a ghost town! :o

You also should do a research on Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania - 1979. :P
