small, free, fun lan games?

Post by boat » Fri Apr 14, 2006 1:43 pm

anyone know of any lan/multiplayer based games that are free, fun/challenging and small (incase i should have to d/l via my lovely dialup at work)? just looking for a something not too frilly or hardware needy that can be played on a lan between a coupla computers, for those slow times at work. had a slow end of hte day yesterday and ended up going to yahoo games for a game of backgammon...but i would like to maybe find somehting light that we can play on our little lan here. was gonna grab bzflag, but its like a 10M d/l...not much on a ncie cable connection, but try bring that down thru a 56k dialup connection, that pulls 2-4KB/s :fist:  :P

anyhoo...anything? :?: :drinking:

i know this little 5-in-a-row game.

it's a little multiplayer board game
it's free, and it sure is small. Don't know about challenging though....

i got it from a site named "max99kbgames". They had other games too (<99Kb), but looks like the site doesn't excist anymore.

It isn't _tiny_, but it's fun and it's got a pretty revolutionary movement system:

A good time, for sure.

This one's cool too :

Scorched 3D

it's a 3D remake of an old game named "Scorched Earth".
Anyway, it's a lotta fun playing on a LAN with a small group of people. :D

Wow! Nice find, Para! I used to play S.E. on my Amiga. Real neat game. I just DL'ed this new version...and I hope they've done it justice.

Edit: Nicely done! Takes a little getting used to, but entertaining.
