TF2

Post by [NME]SANDMAN » Mon Feb 28, 2005 2:20 pm

I found this on IGN today

Team Fortress 2: Brotherhood of Arms
Publisher: Sierra
Developer: Valve
Release Date: June 2, 2005
Summary: This one's starting to rival Freelancer and Duke Nukem for "where the hell is it, anyway?" status. It even qualified for inclusion in our "Missing in Action" feature last year. But now it seems like things are back on course for this title's eventual release. This summer, god-willing, gamers will finally get a chance to play the new Team Fortress. Now that Half-Life 2 and Steam have launched, the gang at Valve can focus more of their energy and attention on getting Team Fortress ready for the masses.

The title says it all: following the squad theme that seems to have overtaken the shooter genres, Team Fortress 2: Brotherhood of Arms will see you taking part in battles as a member of a group. A wide variety of soldier types lets you take on the role you want in each battle. When raw power is needed, you can adopt the role of Marine or Commando. If you need to have a little more variety, you can help support the primary fighters as an Engineer or a Medic. If team-based action isn't your thing, you can still make a contribution as a Spy or Sniper.

We're still waiting to see how it works in practice but the solid mechanic of the original game and the sheer beauty of the Source Engine leave us with few doubts that Team Fortress 2 will live up to everyone's expectations

fortress forever and tf2 are two completely different games. fortress forever is going to keep in the traditional sense of team fortress. tf2 is sounds like its going to be a cross between cs, dod, tfc and maybe a lil rts thrown in :?

i think boat hit it right on the nose... and that's why i'm much more excited for FF than i am for TF2. shame on Valve for incorporating that highly contagious thing they call CS into the TF concept. shame!

I found this today.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6153984.html

TEAM FORTRESS 2. WHERE DID THIS COME FROM? Hey, they're still making it! It's got a totally exaggerated, crazy art style now. Looks a little like Spy vs. Spy or No One Lives Forever, kind of a '60s spy feel. It's going to be the included multiplayer mode in Episode 2! Class-based, etc. You know the drill. Great news for shooter fans. We all thought this game was dead years ago.

Hee Hee, those models look great. TF ala The Incredibles! :) Hopefully the game play will be good too. I love the medic's evil scientist look and the big ass needle. Hold still boaty, this won't hurt a bit....

I'm really split on this one. I think FF will remain true to TFC....which is what I think most TFC players want. We might be surprised, and TF2 might be good. Since it's coming free with Episode 2, I'll give it a run...but honestly, I'm not holding my breath.

Valve is at it again.

Today, though, 360 and PS3 owners who had been hoping to ring in the holidays blasting headcrabs got a preemptive lump of coal in their stockings. In an interview with Eurogamer, Valve director of marketing Doug Lombardi flatly said that [glow=red]all three versions of the game would not launch in 2006. [/glow] :(
