HL2:Episode 1?

Post by KaptainSkitzo » Mon Feb 27, 2006 10:52 pm

C&P this to your browser.....it came across Steam tonight(just minutes ago, actually.)

I don't know exactly what all this means..........did HL2 ship incomplete? Or are we going to have to pay for this?

Valve just released more info and a trailer. Looks good, but is short, 4-6 hours of play, but then again, it episodic.

these little episode/add-on's seem to be the going thing nowadays, where its not quite a full game, but just enough of a tease to make you want to buy it. bf2 has began offering "booster packs" which are essentially a few more maps and weapons/vehicles, but hte price is just right to make you bite  when really its almost like a patch  :x  :P

It looks great, but is it worth is $20 worth 4-6 hours of play. I guess I've spent more in arcades.

the trailer looks like hl2: aftermath or is aftermath just the name of the episodes as a whole?

...and yes, i can see episodes becoming the next big money maker. like boat said, it's priced well enough to be enticing.

pftt... 10% that's a whole $1.99 off.

looks like aftermath is the name of the group of episodes, so this will be aftermath: episode 1.

What exactly is Half-Life 2: Episode One (AKA Aftermath)?
“As the name suggests the episode continues from where Half-Life 2 left off, as Laidlaw explains "Aftermath deals with the events and issues set in motion during Half-Life 2. You've done critical damage to the Citadel. The whole place is going to go up, taking out City 17 and what's in its immediate radius. You and Alyx are leading the flight from the city getting up close and personal with some of the creatures and sights from the end of the game."

From early screenshots it would appear that with the damage to City 17 and its defences, some old creatures such as Ant Lions that were previously blocked from the city have broke through and now litter the streets. You will also meet enemies from the final Citadel levels such as the Combine Synth and Stalkers.

As well as fighting new creatures in new locations you will also have new weapons to fight them with. The gravity gun will make a comeback and will offer a new level of interactivity to the game.â€
