according to the article/review, DoD:S will actually be the first HDR release, not the "Lost Coast" level... :surp:
i hadn't noticed this before, but lost coast is showing up in the "coming soon" portion of the games list in steam. hopefully that is a good sign.

Interestingly enough, Lost Coast will not be the first Valve game to bring HDR to the table. In a few weeks, Valve will release Day of Defeat: Source over their Steam content delivery system, which will include HDR support. However, this HDR support is included on top of already-existing maps, instead of alongside maps that have been specially created to show it off. So in this sense, Lost Coast will be the first game to actively and fully embrace HDR. --TH article.

Yeah, with the new weapons i meant the re-modelling of the weapons. They made them more detailed. And some weaponmodels even changed entirely. The 9mm changed from a Glock into, i think, a S&W. The SMG changed from an MP5 into an M16. And the shotgun changed from whatever it was to a SPAS12 which i use now for TFC too.

Half-Life 2: Lost Coast Available Now
October 27, 2005, 4:10 pm · Alfred Reynolds
Half-Life 2: Lost Coast is now available for play for all Half-Life 2 owners.

Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, a single-player level custom-created to showcase High-Dynamic Range lighting (HDR) in the Source engine, is available now to all owners of HL2. As a technology showcase, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast's system requirements are very high. During installation, Steam will prompt you if your system does not meet the recommended configuration. We hope you enjoy it.

briefly, just to make sure it installed/played ok. definitely power hungry :P the lighting effects are pretty durned kewl...just about like when u actually are subjected to light changes, like going from the bright outdoors to a darker indoors, when your eyes adjust for a few seconds. 8)
