Firefox and flash on linux

Post by Grummun » Fri Mar 09, 2007 11:36 am

Has anyone out there gotten the recent Flash plugin for linux/firefox (9.0.31.0 is the most recent rev, I think) to work right? I get it installed, and about:plugins shows the plugin loaded, but usually the first, sometimes the second, flash enable web page, and firefox dies with what is apparently a fairly generic segmentation fault.

I've read that there were some past issues with the flash plugin and running X at 16bpp, but it's not clear whether that is fixed in current versions. I am running at 16bpp, but the suggested workaround (apart from running at 32bpp) didn't help. I could try to go to 32bpp, but I expect my crappy onboard video won't have the memory to run at a reasonable resolution.

Anyway, anyone using that plugin successfully?
